Nico Rosberg took pole for the British Grand Prix ahead of his team-mate and world championship rival Lewis Hamilton in damp, changeable conditions that tested the decision-making skills of all the teams. Rosberg pulled it off at the last when it had looked locked-on for Hamilton, who ended the session in sixth. There is an intriguing grid for Sundays race with a Mercedes on top, followed by the Red Bull of Sebastian Vettel in second and Jenson Button in third, but Ferrari and Williams starting among the back-markers.
