McLaren and Jenson Button in trouble as British Grand Prix looms

Once-powerful F1 team knows urgent action is needed to prevent it from descending into the ranks of F1 also-rans

Any hopes the McLaren executive chairman, Ron Dennis, had of inspiring his languishing team to greater things in this weekends British Grand Prix blew up in his face here on Thursday.

Dennis, who is stalling on offering Jenson Button a new contract for next year, had called on his senior driver to try harder his last win was in the Brazilian Grand Prix two years ago. But Button, whose last win was in the Brazilian Grand Prix two years ago, flung the words back in his bosss face when he said: That sort of thing doesnt work for me.
