This culturally diverse, highly energised and politicised city, this two-tongued home for Francophones and Anglophones, would make an appropriate stage for Monty Pythons famous sketch The Argument Clinic. Down the rue Saint-Denis, east of boulevard Saint-Laurent, the contretemps are mainly in French; on the west side of this island city the lively dissensions are mostly conducted in English.
