Lewis Hamilton fastest in second practice session for Japanese grand prix

The Mercedes driver edged out his championship rival Nico Rosberg, while Williams were boosted by a new aero package

Lewis Hamilton topped the time sheets in the second practice session before the Japanese grand prix, just over two-tenths of a second clear of Nico Rosberg, his Mercedes team-mate and rival for the world championship. Rosberg was fastest in the first session ahead of Hamilton by one-and-a-half tenths.

On a dry day, far removed from the heavy rain of Thursday and the still incoming typhoon Phanfone, set to arrive on either Sunday or Monday, Rosberg, running the hard tyres, edged out his rival for the fastest time in the morning when Hamilton pushed too hard and locked up at the hairpin.
